In honor of National Sibling Day today, while thinking of all those who siblings have gone too soon, I’m giving away an autographed copy of the book “Growing Young: A Memoir of Grief” by Bridget Park.
“Growing Young,” is a brave and honest look at the journey of a teenage girl grieving the tragic death of her older brother. She takes us on a voyage from the first days and months from finding out about his death, through the memorial, testimonies of her faith as well as her parent’s grief, to the many challenges of returning to school, among other issues she was forced to face at such a young age. Bridget’s strength and courage to share is admirable.
Personally, I have not experienced the loss of a sibling, however, I have seen how my own son was deeply affected by the loss of his sister. Having a book out there for young people to turn to is essential. A great gift for your teenager or someone you may know who has been affected by the loss of a sibling, that provides hope. Sometimes just knowing that another has survived such a devastating loss and being able to relate to them makes all the difference.
From the back of the book, “In Bridget Park’s powerful debut, Growing Young: A Memoir of Grief, readers will follow the author’s journey through the grieving process as she attempts to cope with the loss of a loved one. The only grief support book written by a teenager, Growing Young is truly a voice for all those who have lost someone during their developmental years.”
This inspirational read is sure to bring comfort, guidance and be a blessing to others. Thanks for sharing Bridget. You story is helping so many.
For an added bonus, I’ve decided to give away this Promise Journal “God Is Always with You,” to the winner also! Just leave a comment here or on our Facebook page to be entered. Drawing will be held Monday, April 13.
Would be good to have in our churchlibrary.
